How Long Does It Take to Lose Belly Fat?

The duration to lose belly fat varies based on several factors. Using my own scale reading of 24% body 

fat at the start of my diet, I created a chart to estimate the time needed to see visible abs. 

This chart assumes an average fat loss of one pound per week, but the upper limit can be 

two pounds per week.


How to Use the Chart:

1. Locate the Column: Find your current body fat percentage.

2. Follow the Column Down: For women, stop at the orange cell; for men, stop at the yellow cell.

3. Trace the Row to the Left: This gives you an estimate of the weeks required to see your abs.

For instance, if you're a man with 22% body fat, it will take approximately 25 weeks to 

achieve visible abs at a rate of one pound per week. 

My starting point was 24% body fat, equating to roughly 29-30 weeks at one pound per week. 

However, my actual fat loss rate was two pounds per week, reducing the duration to about 15 weeks.


Step-by-Step Guide to Lose Belly Fat

 Step 1: Diet

The cornerstone of fat loss is being in a caloric deficit. This means consuming fewer calories than your 

body needs or burning more calories through physical activity. 

Here's how to calculate your calories and macros using the MyFitnessPal app:

1. Track Your Calories: Aim for a calorie deficit of one pound per week.

2. Set Your Macros: Eat more than one gram of protein per pound of body weight, set fat intake at 20-

25% of total calories, and adjust carbohydrates to balance your diet.

Consistency in following your diet is crucial. The longer you maintain a deficit, the more fat you'll lose.

 Step 2: Resistance Training

Weight training is essential for body recompositing. It helps retain or build muscle mass while losing fat. 

Here's a simple plan based on your experience level:

- Beginners: Train 3-4 times a week with a full-body split.

- Intermediate to Advanced: Train 5-6 times a week with a push-pull-legs split.


Focus on compound exercises like bench press, deadlift, squat, and overhead press. 

Ensure proper form and progressively overload your muscles by increasing weight, frequency, or reps.


 Step 3: Cardio

Cardio is an effective tool for burning calories. Start with walking 8,000 steps a day and gradually 

increase to 13,000 steps. 

Walking not only aids in fat loss but also offers numerous physical and mental health benefits.


Step 4: Recovery

Adequate sleep is critical for fat loss and muscle recovery. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night. 

Proper rest enhances your body's ability to recover and function optimally.

While supplements play a minor role, they can still be beneficial. Here are my recommendations:
